Official Mexican Standard NOM-194-SE-2021
NEW REGULATIONS 2023-2027
The UN and the World Health Organization have issued specific recommendations on the subject of vehicle safety, since in Mexico road accidents involving motor vehicles claim the lives of around 16 thousand people each year, being the second cause of death among 5 and 34 years old. In addition, around 134,000 people are injured and, of these, 40,000 acquire some type of permanent disability.
In this sense, on October 3, 2022, the Ministry of Economy published the Official Mexican Standard NOM-194-SE-2021, Safety devices for new light vehicles-Requirements and specifications, canceling the published NOM-194-SCFI-2015 on May 9, 2016.
All commercialized vehicles, whether manufactured or imported, must comply with the incorporation of Safety devices according to a calendar per year established according to the following:
