Compliance Procedures and Certifications for the importation of Electric Vehicles
Mexico releases tariffs on the importation of electric vehicles in a Decree as of September 3, 2020, with the Decree that modifies the Tariff of the General Import and Export Tax Law, in order to promote the reduction of polluting gases in Mexican territory.
In the same way, the Mexican government plans to encourage with this the commercialization and purchase of electric vehicles and create environmental awareness in the hands of the Ministry of Economy.
THE IMPORT DUTY THAT ARE MODIFIED FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE DECREE ARE THE FOLLOWING:
- New electric vehicles for the transport of ten or more people, including the driver.
- New electric passenger cars and other motor vehicles designed primarily for the transport of people, including family-type vehicles ("break" or "station wagon") and racing vehicles.
- New electric vehicles for the transport of goods.
Electric vehicles require the Conformity Assessment and Compliance Report of the Official Mexican Standard NOM-194-SCFI-2015, Essential safety devices in new vehicles-Safety specifications.
The Mexican Accreditation Entity granted Vericentrum Registration No. UVSVN 005 as an Inspection Unit under the NMX-EC-17020-IMNC-2014 ISO / IEC 17020: 2012 standard.
We also apply the Automotive Dynamic Noise Test based on:
OFFICIAL MEXICAN STANDARD NOM – 079-SEMARNAT-1994. That establishes the maximum permissible noise emission limits for new motor vehicles in the plant and its measurement method.
